Virtual Springfield Virtual Springfield is a Windows and Macintosh computer game released in 1997 and published by Fox Interactive. It was developed by Digital Evolution. Similar in format to first-person exploration games like Myst, Virtual Springfield allows one or two players to explore a 3D simulation of Springfield, the fictional town. Oct 29, 2011 I adored Virtual Springfield. It was one of the few 'games' I enjoyed on the PC back then. I think I remember being able to go in and out of one of the rooms in Krusty's studio to collect a new card underneath the poster. I just barely remember.
OK, so I'm trying to get Virtual Springfield (PC, 1997) to run and I'm just at a loss. It's probably not going to be a popular topic here, but I figured it was worth a shot to ask for help.So I've tried VMware:
- Windows 95 .... results = pagefault on running the game
- Windows 98SE ... results = pagefault on running the game
- Windows XP (with/without compatibility modes) ... results = pagefault on running the game
So then I tried VirtualBox:
- Windows 95 .... results = pagefault on running the game
So finally, I installed Windows95 in DosBox figuring that maybe the x86 pass through of VirtualBox and VMware were the culprit... and the result=DirectDraw error and/or pagefault on running the game
Now, the game only requires a minimal install and it seems to mostly only run QT encoded video overlays of the cartoon animation over a fairly basic 3d background. Game runs on DirectX3.
